Track expenses via natural language, get spending summaries, set budgets
Why use this skill?
Track spending, set budgets, and generate expense reports effortlessly using natural language with the Expense Tracker Pro AI agent skill for OpenClaw.
Install via CLI (Recommended)
clawhub install openclaw/skills/skills/bobdevibecoder/bobagent-expense-tracker-proWhat This Skill Does
Expense Tracker Pro transforms your OpenClaw agent into a powerful personal finance assistant. By leveraging natural language processing, this skill eliminates the manual labor of maintaining spreadsheets or navigating cumbersome banking apps. When you tell your agent about a purchase, it intelligently parses the amount and intent to log the expense. It performs automatic categorization across eight standard buckets including Food & Dining, Utilities, and Subscriptions. Beyond simple logging, the skill maintains a persistent local memory of your financial history, allowing you to query your spending habits, set monthly category budgets, and request analytical reports. It is designed for privacy-conscious users who want seamless expense tracking without sending financial data to third-party cloud servers.
Installation
To integrate Expense Tracker Pro into your environment, use the OpenClaw command-line interface. Ensure your local environment is configured and authenticated with the agent hub. Run the following command in your terminal:
clawhub install openclaw/skills/skills/bobdevibecoder/bobagent-expense-tracker-pro
Once installed, the skill will initialize its local database store. No further configuration is required to begin logging your daily transactions.
Use Cases
This skill is perfect for individuals who struggle with financial discipline due to the friction of traditional tracking methods. Use it to:
- Keep track of micro-transactions throughout the day without opening a separate app.
- Establish and monitor budgets for variable spending categories like Entertainment or Dining.
- Perform end-of-month audits to identify unnecessary subscriptions or spending bloat.
- Generate quick CSV exports for tax season or personal bookkeeping workflows.
- Track recurring expenses automatically by tagging them as such during the initial entry.
Example Prompts
- "I just spent $12.50 on a movie ticket, add that to entertainment."
- "Am I currently under my $300 limit for monthly food expenses?"
- "Show me a breakdown of all my recurring subscription costs this year."
Tips & Limitations
- Precision is key: Ensure you always include the currency amount so the parser can accurately record the transaction.
- Categorization: If the agent miscategorizes an item, you can override it by saying: "spent $50 on electronics, category: shopping."
- Privacy: All data is stored locally on your machine. Ensure your machine is backed up, as removing the skill or clearing local storage will purge your history.
- Trends: Use the phrase "spending trends" to trigger a comparative analysis of your financial health over previous months.
