The instagram-photo-find skill is a sophisticated visual retrieval tool designed to curate high-quality imagery for any destination or landmark. It functions as an automated research assistant that leverages Brave Search to locate relevant Instagram content, downloads the assets directly, and utilizes advanced vision models to score them based on aesthetic quality and iconic representation. Rather than simply returning a list of links, this skill ensures that the images provided are truly 'hero' quality, perfect for travel guides, presentations, or visual content creation.
Installation
To add this capability to your OpenClaw agent, run the following command in your terminal:
clawhub install openclaw/skills/skills/psyduckler/instagram-photo-find
Use Cases
- Travel Blogging & Content Creation: Instantly pull high-impact photography for blog posts or social media features without manual searching.
- Destination Planning: Visualize a trip by pulling iconic imagery of specific attractions or neighborhoods.
- Graphic Design: Acquire royalty-free or representative imagery for mockups, website headers, and marketing materials centered around specific geographic locations.
- Market Research: Assess how a location is visually represented to travelers by analyzing the most popular and 'iconic' photos currently trending.
Example Prompts
- "Find me 3 stunning hero photos of the Amalfi Coast, Italy for my travel presentation."
- "Search for high-quality Instagram photos of the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles and rank them by how iconic they look."
- "Get the best photography images for Kyoto, Japan focusing on temple architecture."
Tips & Limitations
- Refining Results: If your initial search yields generic results, use the
search_variantparameter to add terms like 'landscape', 'architecture', or 'golden hour' to narrow the scope. - Quoting Names: Always wrap specific attractions in quotes (e.g., "Eiffel Tower") to prevent the search engine from pulling broad, irrelevant results for the city.
- Technical Note: This skill relies on the Instagram
/media/?size=lendpoint. Note that if a post is a carousel, only the primary image will be retrieved. Video-based posts may return a static thumbnail rather than the motion content. Always ensure your environment has write permissions for the/tmp/directory, as the skill needs to store local copies of images before running the vision analysis.
