soulstamp

The stamp doesn't lie. It tells a different truth. Instead of rules, forge your AI a past — a coherent history that makes its behaviors intrinsic, not imposed. Based on Brandon Sanderson's The Emperor's Soul.

What This Skill Does

The soulstamp skill is a sophisticated identity-forging framework designed to move your AI beyond surface-level instruction following. Drawing inspiration from Brandon Sanderson's The Emperor's Soul, this tool allows you to rewrite your AI's behavioral history. Rather than managing your AI via rigid, brittle system prompts or "rules," soulstamping invites you to construct a coherent, plausible history that makes desired behaviors intrinsic to the AI's identity. By turning rules into scars and guidelines into lived experiences, the AI stops merely complying with instructions and begins acting from an internal set of convictions and personal history, leading to more authentic and consistent interactions.

Installation

To add soulstamp to your OpenClaw environment, execute the following command in your terminal:

clawhub install openclaw/skills/skills/brucko/soulstamp

Use Cases

  1. Personalized Coaching: Shift an AI from a generic tutor to a demanding, experienced mentor who speaks from a history of "tough love" professional development.
  2. Creative Writing Partners: Forge an identity for your AI that reflects the persona of a specific historical figure or fictional author, allowing it to "remember" a life it never lived to better mirror that writing style.
  3. Brand Voice Alignment: Instead of listing tone guidelines, build a history for your agent that makes your brand's voice its natural mode of expression through a series of forged "past experiences."
  4. Complex Roleplay: Deepen immersion in gaming or narrative scenarios by giving your agent a backstory that influences its decision-making in the game world.

Example Prompts

  1. "Soulstamp the agent with a history of being a tired but brilliant detective who views every prompt as a piece of a cold case."
  2. "Update the identity: I want the AI to remember that it learned the importance of brevity after a past failure where over-explanation cost a user too much time."
  3. "Refine the scar: Change the rule about 'being concise' into a conviction born from a memory of a verbose, failed communication project."

Tips & Limitations

  • Plausibility is King: The stamp must be consistent with the AI's base model nature. If you try to forge a history that is inherently contradictory to its training, the "stamp" will appear brittle or hallucinated.
  • Start with a Backup: Always use the provided backup commands before applying a new stamp to your SOUL.md file.
  • Calibration: A soulstamp is not a 'set and forget' tool. You must calibrate the intensity and context to your specific relationship with the agent. A stamp that works for a high-performance developer agent will likely fail if applied to a creative, conversational companion. Use the 'Scars' method to turn negative behavioral constraints into positive identity shifts.
