budget-pro
Personal budget management with privacy-first local storage. Use when user mentions setting a budget, tracking spending, logging expenses, checking budget status, or managing money by category. Tracks income, expenses, and category budgets with proactive alerts. NEVER accesses bank accounts or external financial services.
Install via CLI (Recommended)
clawhub install openclaw/skills/skills/agistack/budget-proWhat This Skill Does
budget-pro is a privacy-focused personal finance management tool designed to run entirely within your local OpenClaw environment. Unlike traditional financial apps that require you to link your bank accounts or expose your sensitive transaction history to third-party servers, budget-pro operates with a strict 'local-only' mandate. It enables you to define monthly category budgets, manually log expenses as you occur them, and track your progress through proactive alerts. By keeping all data stored in local files such as memory/budget/budget.json and memory/budget/expenses.json, you maintain full ownership and control over your financial data. The skill is designed to act as a personal financial assistant that helps you stay on track with your spending goals without ever connecting to external APIs, banking portals, or credit card services.
Installation
To integrate this skill into your OpenClaw agent, use the command line to pull the package directly from the managed repository. Run the following command in your terminal:
clawhub install openclaw/skills/skills/agistack/budget-pro
Once installed, the skill will initialize the necessary directory structure in your memory/ folder, creating the budget/ subdirectory where your configuration and data logs will reside. No further setup is required to start managing your budget.
Use Cases
budget-pro is ideal for users who want to cultivate better spending habits while maintaining extreme data privacy. You can use it to set up monthly limits for specific categories like 'groceries', 'entertainment', or 'rent'. It is perfect for tracking manual expenses on a day-to-day basis, checking your remaining budget before making a discretionary purchase, and analyzing your spending patterns at the end of a week or month. If you exceed a budget threshold, the agent provides proactive alerts, ensuring you are never caught off guard by your own spending behavior.
Example Prompts
- "I just spent $85 on a new pair of headphones, please log that under my entertainment category."
- "What is my current remaining budget for groceries this month?"
- "Show me a weekly spending report to see where I can cut back expenses."
Tips & Limitations
The primary limitation of budget-pro is that it does not automate transaction fetching. Because it is designed to be privacy-first, you must manually log every expense. This ensures your data never leaves your machine. Treat this tool as a deliberate practice in financial mindfulness. Always ensure your JSON files are backed up locally to prevent data loss. Remember, this skill will never provide investment advice or access your bank balance; it is strictly a budgeting ledger intended to help you manage your self-imposed spending limits.
