What This Skill Does

Omni Stories is an automated content creation engine designed to turn text-based Reddit narratives into engaging, narrated video content. By bridging the gap between Reddit threads and video platforms, this skill automates the entire production pipeline—from scraping source material to applying modern, dynamic captions and professional-grade voiceovers. Whether you are building a personal brand, running a theme page, or experimenting with automated storytelling, Omni Stories provides a turnkey solution that handles the heavy lifting of video rendering, audio synthesis, and asset management.

Installation

Installation is managed via the OpenClaw agent workflow. First, ensure you have the clawhub skill enabled. Command your agent to: clawhub install openclaw/skills/skills/specter0o0/omni-stories. Once installed, trigger the setup by saying, "Hey, install and configure the omni-stories skill." The agent will then prompt you to choose between ElevenLabs (for high-quality, professional narration) or a local fallback. If choosing ElevenLabs, you will need your API key ready. The agent will handle the 1GB download, configuration of the config.yaml file, and environment dependencies autonomously. Once finished, the agent will verify the health of the installation using omni-stories --doctor.

Use Cases

  • Content Creators: Automatically generate daily short-form content for platforms like TikTok, YouTube Shorts, or Instagram Reels.
  • Archive Enthusiasts: Turn long-form text posts from subreddits like r/stories into accessible audio-visual content for listeners.
  • Marketing Agencies: Quickly produce a high volume of narrated video assets for social media engagement experiments.
  • Content Experimentation: A/B test various story topics by rapidly generating multiple video variants from different subreddits.

Example Prompts

  1. "Hey, use omni-stories to find an interesting thread on r/stories and generate a new video for me."
  2. "I want to post a new narrated video today. Can you use the omni-stories skill to pull a story about tech support and render it with a trending background video?"
  3. "Configure my omni-stories settings to use a professional voice model and make sure it runs every morning at 8 AM."

Tips & Limitations

  • Quality vs. Cost: While the local fallback is available, ElevenLabs is highly recommended for voice naturalness. If you use ElevenLabs, ensure you use a paid subscription to access the 'v3' model, which offers a significant quality leap over the 'v2' default.
  • Automation: Maximize your efficiency by setting up a cron job. This allows the AI agent to cycle through subreddits, select stories, and queue videos without human intervention.
  • Limitations: Always verify the generated story content before publishing. While the tool automates the technical process, ensure the source material aligns with your intended audience and safety guidelines. Remember to run omni-stories --doctor if you notice any rendering slowdowns or audio glitches.
