What This Skill Does

The Prospector skill is a powerful lead generation assistant designed to streamline the top-of-funnel sales process for OpenClaw users. By leveraging Exa for intelligent web-based company discovery and Apollo for precise contact enrichment, the skill bridges the gap between identifying potential leads and gathering the actionable data required to initiate outreach. Once the search parameters—specifically industry and company size—are defined, the skill aggregates company domains, enriches them with contact details, and exports a structured CSV file directly to your desktop. For users with integrated workflows, it also provides an optional sync capability with Attio CRM, ensuring your leads are mapped directly into your pipeline.

Installation

To integrate this skill into your environment, run the following command: clawhub install openclaw/skills/skills/slempiam/prospector. After installation, you must perform a one-time configuration by running /prospector:setup. This process will prompt you to input your Exa, Apollo, and optionally, your Attio API keys. These keys are stored securely in ~/.config/prospector/config.json. Alternatively, if you manage credentials via system environment variables, ensure PROSPECTOR_EXA_API_KEY and PROSPECTOR_APOLLO_API_KEY are exported in your terminal session before execution.

Use Cases

This skill is ideal for outbound sales development representatives (SDRs) and founders who need to build cold outreach lists quickly without jumping between multiple browser tabs. It is perfect for market research, territory planning, or account-based marketing (ABM) campaigns. Whether you are targeting early-stage startups in the Fintech sector or massive enterprise corporations in the Healthcare space, the Prospector automates the tedious research phase of your sales cycle.

Example Prompts

  1. "I need to start a new campaign; please find leads for me using the /prospector tool."
  2. "I am doing some prospecting for my new SaaS product, can you help me find contacts?"
  3. "Hey, I need an ICP search for enterprise healthcare companies. Let's use the prospector skill."

Tips & Limitations

To get the best results, be as specific as possible during the ICP selection flow. While the tool supports a 'Any' option for both industry and size, utilizing specific filters significantly improves the relevance of the enriched data. Please note that the quality of contact enrichment depends heavily on the Apollo database's coverage for your specific target market. Ensure you have proper read/write permissions for your desktop directory, as the skill writes the output CSV directly to that location. If you encounter errors, verify your API key limits in your respective Exa and Apollo accounts.
