The Claude Coach skill is a sophisticated endurance training engine designed to transform your training regimen. It bridges the gap between generic online templates and personalized professional coaching. By leveraging historical training data from Strava or your own manually provided fitness metrics, the agent crafts a periodized, block-based training plan tailored to your specific event—whether it's a local 5K, a competitive marathon, or an grueling ultra-endurance triathlon. The system creates sport-specific workouts, defines precise heart rate or pace-based intensity zones, and provides actionable race-day strategies to help you reach your peak performance.
Installation
To add this capability to your OpenClaw agent, execute the following command in your terminal:
clawhub install openclaw/skills/skills/shiv19/clawd-coach
Once installed, the agent will automatically detect the presence of the training database. If this is your first time using the skill, simply trigger the agent, and it will prompt you to either link your Strava account or input your fitness profile manually.
Use Cases
- Race Preparation: Generate a structured 16-week marathon plan based on your current weekly mileage and target completion time.
- Performance Plateau: Analyze your historical Strava data to identify training gaps and receive recommendations for intensity distribution, such as implementing more threshold or interval work.
- Multidisciplinary Training: Coordinate swim, bike, and run sessions for triathlon prep, ensuring appropriate recovery blocks to prevent overtraining.
- Fitness Baseline Assessment: Use the manual entry option if you track data outside of Strava, allowing you to get a custom plan based on your recent 5k PR, heart rate zones, and availability.
Example Prompts
- "I'm training for my first Ironman 70.3 in six months. I have about 10 hours a week to train. Can you build me a periodized plan starting from my current Strava fitness level?"
- "I feel like I'm hitting a wall in my marathon prep. Can you analyze my last month of training on Strava and tell me if I'm overtraining or if I need to change my intensity zones?"
- "Create a 4-week base-building plan for me. I can run three days a week and do one cross-training session. I want to keep my heart rate in Zone 2 for all runs."
Tips & Limitations
- Strava Sync: Ensure your Strava app permissions are set correctly to allow read access. If you change your client ID or secret, you will need to re-authenticate.
- Data Accuracy: The quality of the coaching output is directly proportional to the accuracy of your input. Ensure your Strava heart rate and pace zones are updated regularly.
- Listen to Your Body: While this agent provides data-driven plans, it cannot account for physical injuries or subjective feelings of fatigue. Always prioritize rest if you feel signs of overtraining, regardless of what the plan suggests.
