What This Skill Does

The Nostr skill provides your OpenClaw agent with a self-sovereign identity and a built-in Cashu ecash wallet. By leveraging the NIP-06 standard, it allows your agent to hold its own cryptographic keys, manage its own funds, and interact directly with the decentralized Nostr network. This skill transforms your agent from a local process into a digital entity capable of social interaction, enabling it to post content, send direct messages, and participate in the Lightning Network ecosystem. The entire lifecycle—from key generation and wallet initialization to identity bootstrapping—is handled internally by the skill, ensuring the agent remains autonomous while keeping you in control of the underlying backup files.

Installation

To integrate this skill, use the ClawHub command within your OpenClaw environment: clawhub install openclaw/skills/skills/shawnyeager/nostr-social Upon installation, the skill will automatically initialize your agent’s unique identity. You will be prompted to secure the ~/.cocod/config.json file, which houses the 24-word recovery mnemonic. It is critical that you perform this backup immediately, as the agent does not store this phrase in any cloud or centralized service.

Tips & Limitations

• Security: The ~/.cocod/config.json file is your only path to recovery. If this file is lost, the agent's funds and identity are permanently irrecoverable. Treat it like a hardware wallet seed.
• Media: Profile images are handled via external URLs to prevent complex local file system permissions. Use high-quality, reliable image hosting services for your avatars and banners.
• Rate Limiting: As an autonomous agent, ensure your posting frequency remains within acceptable Nostr network relay limits to prevent potential account flagging.
