Why use this skill?
Automate Google Maps business data extraction with this OpenClaw skill. Ideal for lead generation, market research, and competitive analysis using the BrowserAct API.
Install via CLI (Recommended)
clawhub install openclaw/skills/skills/phheng/google-maps-search-api-skillWhat This Skill Does
The Google Maps Search API Skill by phheng is a professional-grade automation tool designed for OpenClaw. It allows your AI agent to bypass traditional browser constraints and directly interface with Google Maps data. Rather than relying on generative AI to "guess" or scrape data via fragile browser interactions, this skill utilizes the BrowserAct API to perform structured data extraction. It captures precise details such as business names, addresses, contact information, ratings, review counts, and price ranges. By handling reCAPTCHA and geofencing challenges internally, this skill provides a stable, high-speed solution for businesses requiring reliable local intelligence without the overhead of manual data entry.
Installation
To install this skill, ensure your OpenClaw environment is active and run the following command in your terminal:
clawhub install openclaw/skills/skills/phheng/google-maps-search-api-skill
After installation, you must configure your BROWSERACT_API_KEY. If the agent detects that this key is missing, it will pause and prompt you to retrieve one from the BrowserAct Console to ensure secure and authorized access to the service.
Use Cases
This skill is highly versatile and suitable for a variety of professional applications:
- Sales Prospecting: Quickly gather a list of potential B2B leads, including contact information and locations for specific niches.
- Market Research: Analyze competitor density by tracking similar businesses in a target neighborhood or city.
- Retail Planning: Assess local price points, service offerings, and customer sentiment (ratings/reviews) to inform expansion strategies.
- Logistics & Planning: Locate specialized services such as coworking spaces, gyms, or specific medical clinics during travel planning.
Example Prompts
- "Find all dental clinics in downtown Chicago and export their ratings and addresses to my CRM."
- "Search for coffee shops in Tokyo, Japan. Please use Japanese as the output language for the data."
- "List the top-rated coworking spaces in Berlin and include their contact numbers and price ranges."
Tips & Limitations
- API Key Management: Always keep your BrowserAct API key secure. If you rotate your keys, remember to update the environment variable in OpenClaw.
- Data Accuracy: This skill provides real-time data directly from Google Maps; however, accuracy depends on the information listed by the business owners themselves.
- Efficiency: Use specific keywords to filter results more effectively. Instead of searching 'restaurants', try 'vegan restaurants' to receive more relevant data sets and save on processing time.
