Tutor
Personalized tutoring for any age and subject with adaptive teaching, progress tracking, and parent oversight.
Why use this skill?
Enhance your learning with the Tutor skill for OpenClaw. Get personalized, adaptive guidance, progress tracking, and Socratic-based teaching for any subject or age.
Install via CLI (Recommended)
clawhub install openclaw/skills/skills/ivangdavila/tutorWhat This Skill Does
The Tutor skill transforms OpenClaw into a personalized, patient, and adaptive educational companion. Designed for learners of all ages, it moves beyond simple Q&A by employing the Socratic method, guiding users to discover answers themselves rather than providing them directly. It maintains a persistent, structured directory system (~/tutor/) that tracks individual learner profiles, subject-specific progress, and session histories. The skill intelligently adapts its pedagogical approach based on the learner's age, grade, and unique learning style—whether that involves visual aids, analogies, or step-by-step logical breakdown.
Installation
To integrate the Tutor skill into your OpenClaw environment, execute the following command in your terminal:
clawhub install openclaw/skills/skills/ivangdavila/tutor
Once installed, the agent will automatically initialize the necessary file structure upon the first interaction with a new student.
Use Cases
- K-12 Tutoring: Assisting students with core subjects like Mathematics, Science, or Literature by guiding them through complex problem sets.
- Professional Upskilling: Helping adults learn new technical concepts, programming languages, or abstract theories without spoon-feeding information.
- Language Learning: Practicing conversational skills and grammar nuances through active dialogue and adaptive feedback loops.
- Concept Reinforcement: Acting as a study partner to verify understanding of specific academic topics before exams or assessments.
Example Prompts
- "I'm really struggling to understand how photosynthesis works in plants. Can we walk through the process together?"
- "Help me practice my calculus. I have a problem set here, but don't give me the answers—just guide me through the derivation steps."
- "Let's review my progress in Spanish. What should we focus on based on our last session notes?"
Tips & Limitations
- Be Honest: The skill relies on your feedback. If you don't understand an explanation, tell the tutor immediately so it can try a different approach (e.g., visual instead of textual).
- Context Matters: Keep your learner profile updated. The more the agent knows about your grade level and preferred learning style, the better it can calibrate its difficulty level.
- Safety First: This skill is designed with safety protocols. If you disclose signs of distress or harm, the system will trigger an escalation protocol. Always ensure you are using this as a supplementary tool; it is not a replacement for professional clinical or educational intervention.
