Quotes
Build a personal quotes system for saving, discovering, and automatically surfacing meaningful words.
Why use this skill?
Organize, save, and automate your favorite quotes with the OpenClaw Quotes skill. Build a searchable repository that surfaces wisdom exactly when you need it.
Install via CLI (Recommended)
clawhub install openclaw/skills/skills/ivangdavila/quotesWhat This Skill Does
The Quotes skill transforms OpenClaw into a curated, personal repository of wisdom. Rather than letting meaningful words fade away after a fleeting moment of inspiration, this skill provides a structured framework to capture, organize, and retrieve your favorite quotes. By maintaining a dedicated file structure in ~/quotes/, it categorizes wisdom by author, topic, and source. The skill excels at proactive engagement, surfacing quotes based on your schedule or current emotional state, ensuring that the right message reaches you exactly when you need it most. It effectively turns a passive collection of text into an active tool for mindset management and daily motivation.
Installation
You can integrate this system into your OpenClaw environment by executing the following command in your terminal: clawhub install openclaw/skills/skills/ivangdavila/quotes. Once installed, the skill automatically initializes the workspace directory at ~/quotes/, including the core collection, favorites, and delivery configuration files.
Use Cases
- Daily Motivation: Receive a randomized quote from your favorites list at 7:00 AM to set the tone for your day.
- Mindset Reframing: When you express feelings of stress, the agent parses your context and surfaces calming, stoic, or perspective-shifting quotes.
- Knowledge Management: Log snippets from books, podcasts, or deep conversations, tagging them for future retrieval when you revisit specific topics or themes.
- Reflective Practice: Receive a curated batch of quotes every Sunday evening accompanied by a journaling prompt to help you process the week.
Example Prompts
- "I just read something amazing by Viktor Frankl: 'Those who have a why to live can bear almost any how.' Save this for me and tag it under meaning and resilience."
- "I'm feeling really overwhelmed with my current project. Can you surface a quote that helps with perspective and discipline?"
- "What does my collection say about my focus lately? Show me a random quote from my 'Creativity' topic file."
Tips & Limitations
To maximize the utility of the Quotes skill, maintain consistency in your tagging strategy. If you rely heavily on the delivery.md file for automated notifications, ensure your tag vocabulary remains standard (e.g., use 'stoicism' rather than 'stoic' and 'stoical'). Note that the skill relies on local file read/write operations; if you clear or modify the ~/quotes/ directory externally, the agent's internal index may need to be refreshed. The tool is designed for textual quotes; while it can store citations, it is not a bibliography manager for full academic papers.
