Why use this skill?
Master your golf game with the OpenClaw Golf skill. Log rounds, track stats, manage your handicap, and receive personalized practice tips to lower your score.
Install via CLI (Recommended)
clawhub install openclaw/skills/skills/ivangdavila/golfWhat This Skill Does
The Golf skill for OpenClaw acts as your digital caddie, performance analyst, and training assistant. It is designed to track every aspect of your game by maintaining a structured memory system within your environment. From logging granular statistics—such as Greens in Regulation (GIR), Fairways in Regulation (FIR), and putts—to calculating your handicap index using the standard differential formula, this skill provides a data-driven approach to lower your scores. It helps you manage your club inventory, store specific notes about challenging courses, and identify long-term trends in your performance to prevent plateauing.
Installation
To integrate this skill into your OpenClaw environment, ensure you have the core agent installed, then execute the following command in your terminal:
clawhub install openclaw/skills/skills/ivangdavila/golf
Once installed, initialize your local storage by setting up the template file:
~/golf/memory-template.md
This file will serve as the foundation for your handicap, club specifications, and personal golfing goals.
Use Cases
- Post-Round Review: Log your latest 18 holes, including weather conditions, specific misses, and stats, to build a historical performance profile.
- Handicap Management: Automate the calculation of your handicap differential every time you post a new score.
- Performance Analysis: Ask the AI to analyze your last five rounds to pinpoint whether your short game or long game is holding you back.
- Course Planning: Look up notes on specific courses you have played before, such as tricky greens or club selection advice for specific hazards.
- Practice Strategy: Receive personalized practice plans based on specific weaknesses identified in your recent stats, such as struggling with lag putting or accuracy off the tee.
Example Prompts
- "I just finished a round at Pine Valley. I shot an 88 with 36 putts and hit 4 fairways. Can you log this and update my handicap?"
- "Based on my last three rounds, what specific part of my game should I focus on at the driving range today?"
- "I'm playing Pebble Beach next week. Check my course notes and remind me which clubs I usually struggle with on those par 3s."
Tips & Limitations
- Be Consistent: The AI's advice is only as good as the data you provide. Always log your FIR and GIR stats to get the most accurate feedback.
- Check the Bag: Keep your
clubs.mdfile updated whenever you change equipment; the AI cannot provide accurate distance recommendations if it doesn't know what is in your bag. - Context Matters: When logging rounds, mention external factors like wind or altitude, as these impact your performance stats significantly.
- Limitations: This skill does not provide real-time GPS tracking on the course; it is an offline, post-round analytical tool intended to help you improve your game during practice sessions.
