Brief
Condense information into actionable briefings. User specifies sources, skill structures the output.
Why use this skill?
Install the Brief skill to distill complex data into professional, actionable summaries. Learn your preferred format and save time.
Install via CLI (Recommended)
clawhub install openclaw/skills/skills/ivangdavila/briefWhat This Skill Does
The Brief skill is a powerful organizational tool designed to distill complex information into actionable, clear, and high-impact summaries. Unlike traditional generative AI tasks that may hallucinate or bloat information, Brief operates on a user-driven, structured model. It acts as a professional editor, transforming raw data, long-form documents, or scattered meeting notes into a standardized format. The skill is highly adaptive; it learns your personal or organizational communication style over time, ensuring that the summaries it generates align with your specific preferences regarding length, tone, and formatting. By utilizing local storage for configuration files, it ensures your preferences follow you across sessions.
Installation
To integrate this skill into your workflow, ensure you have the OpenClaw environment initialized. Run the following command in your terminal:
clawhub install openclaw/skills/skills/ivangdavila/brief
Upon the first execution, the agent will automatically create the necessary directory structure at ~/brief/templates to support custom formatting and persistence.
Use Cases
- Executive Reporting: Convert granular status reports into high-level briefings for stakeholders who require immediate decision-making data.
- Project Management: Synthesize long project threads into concise updates, highlighting blockers and upcoming milestones.
- Meeting Preparation: Generate 'pre-reads' from scattered documentation to ensure all attendees are aligned before a session begins.
- Handoffs: Streamline the process of project transitions by distilling institutional knowledge into compact, readable briefs.
Example Prompts
- "Brief me on the Project X status report I just uploaded; focus on the blockers and budget status."
- "Take these meeting notes and turn them into an executive brief, highlighting the key decisions made."
- "Summarize the attached research document into a handoff brief, focusing on open tasks and next priorities."
Tips & Limitations
To get the best results, be explicit about your desired output structure. If a brief is too long, provide feedback such as 'Too detailed, use shorter bullets,' and the skill will store this in ~/brief/preferences.md to refine future outputs. Note that Brief does not autonomously scour your local files or emails for privacy reasons; you must explicitly provide the data source or grant access to the specific folder. For custom formats, you can modify or add files to the ~/brief/templates/ directory.
