solobuddy
Build-in-public companion for indie hackers — content workflow, Twitter engagement, project soul creation. A living assistant, not a tool.
Why use this skill?
SoloBuddy is your AI companion for indie hackers. Manage your content workflow, maintain Twitter engagement, and track your project's soul with this powerful build-in-public assistant.
Install via CLI (Recommended)
clawhub install openclaw/skills/skills/humanji7/solobuddyWhat This Skill Does
SoloBuddy acts as a living, breathing build-in-public companion for indie hackers. Unlike standard automation tools that simply process text, SoloBuddy serves as a creative partner that understands your project's soul, manages your content workflow, and maintains your engagement rhythm on X (formerly Twitter). It provides a structured environment to capture raw ideas, transform them into polished drafts, and analyze your project's heartbeat through activity snapshots. By maintaining a persistent connection to your project's documentation and history, it ensures that your growth is consistent and your narrative is authentic.
Installation
To integrate SoloBuddy into your OpenClaw environment, execute the following command: clawhub install openclaw/skills/skills/humanji7/solobuddy. Post-installation, you must configure the environment by editing ~/.clawdbot/clawdbot.json. Define your dataPath to point to a folder where your project content resides and select a voice profile such as jester-sage, technical, or casual. Ensure the directory structure (ideas, drafts, data folders) is created manually to enable proper file interaction.
Use Cases
SoloBuddy excels in scenarios where maintaining consistency is difficult, such as chronicling a long-term development journey. It is perfect for indie hackers who struggle with 'blank page syndrome'—use the backlog to store flashes of brilliance and the session log to capture daily momentum. It is also a powerful tool for social media management, utilizing its 'Twitter Expert' module to align your content with current algorithm insights. Finally, it acts as a project strategist; by reading the activity-snapshot.json file, it can diagnose whether your project is in a state of 'momentum' or 'cooling,' offering advice to reignite your progress.
Example Prompts
- "SoloBuddy, check my backlog and pick a project idea that fits a casual voice to generate a tweet draft."
- "Show me the current project phase from the activity snapshot; I feel like I've been silent for too long."
- "Draft a new blog post based on the notes in my session-log from this morning."
Tips & Limitations
To get the most out of this skill, prioritize the quality of your ideas/backlog.md. The more context you feed the AI, the more human-like its outputs will feel. Note that proactive monitoring (Twitter Monitor) requires the external bird CLI to be installed, which adds a dependency on your system. Always review the content generated in the drafts/ folder before publishing, as the tool is meant to be a co-pilot, not a replacement for your personal perspective. If the personality feels off, simply switch your voice setting in the config file to better match your current mood or project tone.
