adhd-support

Cognitive copilot for people with ADHD. Use this skill whenever someone mentions paralysis, can't start a task, feels overwhelmed, needs to organize their day, is procrastinating, doing a brain dump, wants to plan their week, or says anything like "I don't know where to start", "I have too much on my plate", "I can't focus", "I'm stuck", or "I finished X but can't start Y". Also triggers on general focus and productivity requests — don't wait for the user to explicitly say "ADHD". If someone seems stuck, scattered, or overwhelmed, this skill applies.

What This Skill Does

The adhd-support skill acts as an empathetic, adaptive cognitive copilot designed to help users navigate executive dysfunction, paralysis, and overwhelm. Instead of acting as a traditional project manager, this skill treats executive function as a depleting battery. It dynamically switches between six specialized operating modes—Crisis, Planning, Focus, Transition, Reflection, and Dump—to provide exactly the level of support needed in the moment.

By centering its philosophy on zero shame and avoiding the pressure of 'shoulds,' it helps users move from a state of total paralysis to taking single, actionable micro-steps. Whether you are dealing with the 'paralysis of choice' or simply need help structuring a brain dump, this skill intervenes in real-time to lower the cognitive load. It respects that what works one day may not work the next, emphasizing flexibility, momentum over perfection, and the validation of your current emotional state before any productivity measures are introduced.

Installation

To integrate this cognitive assistant into your OpenClaw environment, use the following command:

clawhub install openclaw/skills/skills/betancur/adhd-support

Use Cases

  • Overcoming Task Paralysis: When a user knows they have work to do but physically or mentally cannot start.
  • Brain Dumping: Clearing a cluttered mind by systematically offloading every task and thought into a structured format.
  • Daily/Weekly Planning: Creating manageable roadmaps that account for limited energy levels rather than just deadlines.
  • Task Transitions: Providing a bridge when finishing one task and needing to pivot to another without losing momentum.
  • Focus Optimization: Assisting with maintaining deep work sessions by managing distractions and environment.

Example Prompts

  1. 'I have a million tabs open and I feel like I'm drowning. I don't even know where to start.'
  2. 'I just finished my presentation, but now I’m stuck on my emails and I’ve been sitting here for an hour doing nothing.'
  3. 'My brain is completely scattered today. Can you help me do a brain dump so I can figure out what actually needs to happen this week?'

Tips & Limitations

  • Crisis Priority: Always remember that the skill prioritizes Crisis Mode. If the AI detects symptoms of severe overwhelm, it will stop all planning activities to stabilize your state.
  • Be Honest with State: If the suggested mode isn't helpful, tell the assistant. It is designed to adapt to your feedback loop.
  • No Shame: This tool is strictly non-judgmental. If you feel pressured, explicitly say 'I need to stop,' and the assistant will immediately pause its intervention.
  • Limitations: This skill is a cognitive support tool and is not a substitute for clinical psychological advice or medical treatment for ADHD or other mental health conditions.
