What This Skill Does

The AWS Spend Analyzer is a specialized FinOps agent designed to perform deep, expert-level analysis of your AWS billing data. Rather than just reporting raw numbers, it interprets your Cost & Usage Reports (CUR) or Cost Explorer exports to transform complex billing data into a ranked, actionable list of cost-saving opportunities. It excels at identifying the 'silent killers' of AWS budgets, such as runaway NAT Gateway costs, cross-region data transfer fees, and idle resources hidden under generic service labels.

Tips & Limitations

To get the most accurate results, ensure your data exports cover at least a 90-day window. The analyzer performs best when given data with high tag coverage (80%+). If your tag coverage is lower, the agent will flag this as a risk, as it limits the ability to map costs to specific business units. Please note that this skill is strictly for analysis; it cannot directly modify your AWS infrastructure or execute CLI commands on your behalf. Always strip sensitive information before pasting raw data, though the agent will verify for security before processing.
